Carson City is getting ready to celebrate Independence Day with a fireworks show. The event has been moved to Eagle Valley Golf Course this year, and the Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) is providing information on where people can watch the fireworks at Centennial Park. The show will start at 9:30 p.m. on July 4th, with the park opening at 7 p.m.
The lower fields of Centennial Park will be open for public parking and viewing, with no parking allowed along Centennial Park Drive. However, Heritage Way will have parking available for those attending the event. The RSVP organization has provided a map showing open and closed areas, as well as answers to frequently asked questions about the celebration.
Tickets are not required to watch the fireworks show, but they are necessary for the dinner event and VIP parking. Prohibited items at Centennial Park include camping equipment, glass bottles, pets, open flames, and metal detecting. The event is sponsored by the Nevada Rural Counties RSVP Program, Inc.
The Fire Department will determine if the fireworks show needs to be cancelled due to unsafe weather conditions, primarily wind. In case of cancellation, information will be available on the Fire Department's Facebook page. Portable restrooms and handwash stations will be provided at various locations within the park for public use.
The lower fields of Centennial Park are the best location for public parking and viewing of the fireworks. Spectators will not have access to the golf course, but the grass area of the lower fields will be open for the public. Parking will be available in designated areas around the lower softball and soccer fields.
Parking and access roads to Centennial Fields will open at 7 p.m., with RVs and trailers not permitted in the parking/viewing areas. The fireworks show is scheduled to begin around 9:30 p.m. at Eagle Valley Golf Course on Centennial Park Drive in Carson City. There are limited handicap parking spaces available at the park, with no designated spots at the lower fields.
