Country music legend Willie Nelson will not be able to perform at the Outlaw Music Festival due to feeling ill. The news was announced on a Facebook post, stating that Nelson's doctor has advised him to rest for the next four days. However, fans can still look forward to a special performance by Willie Nelson's son, Lukas Nelson, and the Family Band, who will be playing some of Willie's classics along with other surprise guests. The festival will still feature performances by Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, Celisse, and other artists.
With temperatures in Raleigh expected to reach the 90s, Coastal Credit Union Music Park has taken measures to ensure the comfort of fans attending the festival. Fans are allowed to bring empty, reusable water bottles into the venue to fill up at free hydration stations. Additionally, the venue is equipped with misting fans, cooling stations, and complimentary sunscreen to help keep fans cool throughout the event.
In a separate event, Willie Nelson has also canceled his headlining appearance at an Alpharetta music festival in Georgia due to illness. The 91-year-old country music icon was set to headline the Outlaw Music festival at Ameris Bank Amphitheatre. While Nelson is expected to make a quick recovery and rejoin the tour next week, for now, Lukas Nelson and the Family Band will be performing a special set in his place, featuring Willie's classics and other songs. The festival will still go on with performances by Bob Dylan, Robert Plant, Alison Krauss, and Celisse.
Officials did not provide specific details about Willie Nelson's illness that led to the cancelation of his appearances. The tour is set to resume in North Carolina, but Nelson is not expected to perform at the upcoming show. Despite the setback, fans are hopeful for Nelson's speedy recovery and his return to the stage.
