Tesla has reportedly halted Cybertruck deliveries due to a problem with the motor of its giant windshield wiper. The Cybertruck is equipped with the biggest wiper put on a consumer vehicle. Its the result of Teslas design, which aimed to have a straight line from the front-end all the way to the apex of the roof, resulting in nowhere to hide wipers between the hood and the windshield. Instead, Tesla opted to have a single giant exposed wiper with a vertical resting position for aerodynamic reasons. Buyers are reporting that Tesla has delayed their deliveries, indicating a roughly week-long halt on deliveries, and some were told by Tesla that it had to do with the windshield wiper motor.
Some buyers were told that Tesla would have to replace the windshield wiper motor on all Cybertruck, but this has yet to be confirmed. No recall notice has been released yet. As previously reported, there have been issues with the Cybertruck including starting on its own for no reason and staying down as a resting position rather than up. Teslas auto wipers are known to start when they shouldnt and dont start when they should. The Cybertrucks wipers were doing that, but they were also starting and stopping at the bottom rather than at the top position and just staying there. The issues with the Cybertruck keep piling up, adding to the list of problems that buyers have faced since the truck began shipping out last year.
The wiper on a Cybertruck is massive since the truck itself is, well, kind of gigantic. Cybertruck buyers had begun reporting delays in delivery of their purchase due to an issue with the truck's windshield wipers. It would seemingly be quite a safety issue if it didn't work properly. Tesla had to cancel production and eventually order a recall of the Cybertruck because it had an issue where the accelerator pedal would get stuck, effectively flooring the vehicle by accident. The Cybertruck has had quite a few issues since it began shipping out last year. Including wheels flying off and broken axles on nearly new cars.
To be clear, this issue has not yet been confirmed by Tesla and there has been no official recall, as there was with the accelerator. Elon Musk should feel fine despite the ongoing issues with the Cybertruck, as he just got approved for a $56 billion payday. Buyers of the Tesla Cybertruck are facing multiple challenges with the vehicle, from safety concerns to delays in delivery due to issues with the windshield wipers. It remains to be seen how Tesla will address these problems and ensure the Cybertruck meets safety standards for consumers.
