The Tribeca Festival is set to showcase five short films created using OpenAI's Sora technology, a text-to-video model that generates video clips based on textual descriptions. This marks the first time that films utilizing this cutting-edge technology will be featured at the festival. Co-founder and CEO of Tribeca Enterprises, Jane Rosenthal, emphasized the importance of storytelling in inspiring change and understanding the world. She expressed excitement to see the creative works produced by Tribeca alumni through the use of AI.Filmmakers participating in the program underwent training on the Sora model, which is currently not available to the public. The festival ensured that the filmmakers adhered to agreements with industry guilds related to AI, reflecting a commitment to ethical standards. OpenAI's COO, Brad Lightcap, praised the filmmakers for exploring new possibilities with Sora and expressed anticipation for the debut of their short films.
